Looking for a fun family event in San Diego? Visit the Lakeside Rodeo.

April 30, 2018
Good family fun at the 54th Annual Lakeside Rodeo. My daughter loves horses, so despite living in the city we try to find fun events in San Diego to be in the country and around horses. This is the first visit to the Lakeside Rodeo, not only is this a fun event, but it is a non-profit organization that donates funds to the youth of Lakeside each year.

There was plenty of parking for a fee of $5. We enjoyed the booths with cowboy hats and accessories for sale, along with spinning wheels for prizes. My son won a hat from RDO equipment. The food was affordable including beer, coffee, hot cocoa, ice cream, popcorn, and other snacks.

According to their website,, "Throughout the past four decades, under the leadership of the El Capitan Stadium Association, the rodeo has raised over $2 million for the youth of Lakeside, benefiting such local programs as Little League, Pop Warner, Boys & Girls Club..." Keep an eye out for dates to be announced for the 2019 Lakeside Rodeo. Bring the family and have a great time!

The Del Coronado is a grand hotel on the charming island of Coronado

February 27, 2018
The Hotel Del Coronado brings back great memories for me as I was a waiter there while getting my Bachelors in Real Estate and Finance years ago. Guests can enjoy perfect views of the ocean and don't soon forget the caged elevator with a very friendly operator. This beautiful Victorian hotel is situated on 28 pristine oceanfront acres. Enjoy several restaurants and bars including the Babcock & Story Bar, Crown Room Brunch, Sheerwater, Sun Deck, Eno, Sunset Bar, and a few others like the Splash Bar & Deli. This year the hotel celebrates it's 130th anniversary and has had many famous guests like Frank Sinatra, Charlie Chaplin, and John Wayne to name a few. A couple movies were filmed at the Del as well. The most requested room #3327 is said to have a ghost because a guest by the name of Kate Morgan was found with a self-inflicted gunshot wound in 1892. In the gift shop area inside guests will find historical photographs and learn more about the hotels past. The below pictures were captured this month (February 2018) on a day off of school with the kids. For more information on The Hotel Del Coronado click here.

Black's Beach is perfect for surfing and enjoying the sun

January 31, 2018
Black's Beach is a beautiful place to visit for a surf session or to relax on the sand. To access this incredible beach walk down the paved road near La Jolla Shores Road or hike down the dirt trail by the Torrey Pines Glider Port. There is another small path mostly used by surfers. If going with small children it may be better to take the paved road because it's a smoother walk, there is restrooms at the end before going down to the beach, and this is the part of the beach that nudity is not allowed. Lifeguards do drive up and down the beach which is nice because there is strong rip currents that people need to be aware of. There is a small shack on the side of the cliff to climb up and enjoy a small amount of shade. If you want to explore this beach make sure to walk to the oceanfront house called The Bell Pavillion also known as The Mushroom House.

Best of the best at Park Hyatt Aviara Resort in Carlsbad

December 22, 2017
While previewing properties in Carlsbad for clients I visited the Park Hyatt Aviara Resort to see the beautiful grounds during Christmastime. Amazing decorations and atmosphere, not to mention the people were extremely friendly from the valet staff to the concierge. If you are local to San Diego this is the perfect place for a staycation or drop-in visit for a cocktail or appetizer. If staying for the night there is a parking fee, however if you are just visiting for a few hours they happily valet for free. They host many events including meetings and celebrations. The holiday season is a great time of year to visit the Four Season's and has unique dining options like High Tea, live entertainment in the Park Lounge, and gingerbread classes. Get more information by visiting This year executive Pastry Chef Christophe Rull and his team designed an incredible chocolate Christmas tree display. The tree will be up until early January 2018 if you want to check it out.

The area of Bay Park in San Diego is a much desired area in San Diego.

November 30, 2017
The area of Bay Park in San Diego is a much desired area in San Diego. There are some very popular businesses and shops such as Siesel's Meats, Starbucks, Sprouts, Bay Park Coffee, Local Krave, Bull's Smokin BBQ, JV's Mexican Food, Luce Bar & Kitchen, and Bird's Surf Shed. Having raised my kids in the area for the last 10 years I can attest to the fact that this is a very tight knit community. I see many neighbors helping neighbors and several businesses donating to local schools. In addition, it takes less than 15 minutes to get to Pacific Beach where you will find many great shops, restaurants, and of course the big beautiful beach where you can take a walk or run on the boardwalk. This is an affordable area for families that want to live within close driving distance to the beach.

October 30, 2017
Whether you are in Palm Springs for business or pleasure, make sure to visit the Palm Springs Aerial Tramway. We were looking for a little adventure and came across the tram, what a treat. There is plenty of parking and a bus will take you to the ticket area. Things to do include hiking, camping, skiing, and snowshoeing. There are three options to choose from if you are looking to stay for lunch or dinner, Peaks Restaurant, Pines Cafe, and The Lookout Lounge. Water activities in San Diego are endless

September 29, 2017
People move to San Diego everyday to be near the ocean and enjoy the beautiful weather. I moved to San Diego almost 30 years ago to surf and still love it to this day. My favorite things to do in San Diego are surfing, fishing, and having fun on a boat. Thankfully I have taken full advantage of Freedom Boat Club in San Diego, which is "designed for folks who want to access a versatile fleet of boats on a regular basis, at an affordable cost of entry." My family and I have made memories to last a life time fishing, cruising, and tubing out on the bay and in the ocean. If you are considering joining and have questions give me a call at 619-339-7334 or visit and let them know I referred you.

Don't know how to surf? San Diego Surf School can help with that. Some of the most popular San Diego surf breaks are in Imperial Beach, Sunset Cliffs, Ocean Beach Pier, Pacific Beach, and Windansea in La Jolla.

Last but not least, last year I tried the Jetpack flight at Mission Bay Sports Center on Santa Clara Place in Mission Beach. The instructor was great and because of his direction I was able to go higher than I expected and had an absolute blast. Book a flight by visiting
