If you have not had the privilege of visiting La Jolla Shores beach I highly recommend planning a trip. The sand is soft and warm and there are palm trees everywhere. Kayak to the cliffs and go inside the caves, surf, or get a glimpse of the Leopard Sharks while snorkeling. There are cafes and restaurants close to the beach or you can BBQ yourself. There is a small parking lot that you can pay $2/hr to park in or feel free to park on La Jolla Blvd or one of the side streets and just walk to the beach. The parking can be very difficult on the weekends and during the summer. There are many lifeguard towers, restrooms, a play structure for the kids, and a large grassy area for people to enjoy. Weather you are there to take advantage of the many water activities or just to relax on the beach there is something for everyone. Scuba divers are able to fill their tank or rent gear at the local shops. Looking to kayak? Join a kayaking tour for a couple of hours. If you are going to swim in the water make sure to do the stingray shuffle. Simply slide your feet along the ocean floor rather than lifting them. For those visiting San Diego I recommend staying at the La Jolla Shore Hotel because it is steps from the sand. The La Jolla Beach & Tennis Club has been around for more than 80 years and is a premier recreational and social community. To become a member visit www.ljbtc.com.
